Go Go Gadget Air Popper

The first gadget to make it's way into my healthier kitchen was the Orville Redenbacher's Gourmet Hot Air Popper
I was previously eating the 100 calorie packages of microwavable popcorn and thought I was being healthy by doing so...  Boy was I wrong!  Just reading the labels on the packages is a pretty difficult task.  Try it for yourself and you'll be surprised at how many of the ingredients you aren't familiar with (and the ones you don't know are probably the worst for you!).  Not to mention, how many times have you ended up burning the bag of popcorn in the microwave?  I have YET to get it to come out just right...  Well after purchasing the Air Popper and some plain corn kernels, I thought I would give it a shot.  You put 1/4 cup of kernels into the machine and plug it in.  Wait about 2 minutes and you end up with a HUGE bowl of fresh popcorn!  The best part-it doesn't burn...as it pops it leaves the machine thus it won't burn...  It's basically fool-proof!!  My first batch I measured and the 1/4 cup kernels produced TWELVE cups of popped corn!  Seriously-that's a lot of popcorn!  Then you start thinking about the nutritional information...1 cup of popped corn = 25 calories which means you could eat the whole batch (12 cups) for 300 calories-talk about getting more food for less calories!  :)  I will tell you the first batch I thought tasted very bland but as I keep making it, I PROMISE it gets more and more flavor each time.  Even my boyfriend has become a huge fan of the air popped corn and likes it as much as I do.  This has become a great snack and even adds to our date nights when we stay at home and rent a movie (you don't have to feel bad for having popcorn!).  I've also found that you can divide the bowl up and bag it to carry as a convenient and healthy snack to go; I still think it tastes great a few days after I popped it.  I highly recommend getting an air popper and making the change.  Let me know what you think!!

Happy Popping!  :)
